CERVIA - Emotions of lights by the sea in winter
EMOTIONS OF LIGHTS BY THE WINTER SEA
PLAY OF LIGHTS, COLORS AND IMAGES: PROJECTIONS ON THE BEACH, WHICH BECOMES A SCREEN
The winter sea tells stories that come from afar. Paolo Buroni is convinced of this, multivision image designer who took up the lifeguards’ challenge to illuminate the beach of Cervia, Milano Marittima, Pinarella and Tagliata and turn it into the stage of imagination and emotion. Light, color, dark. Stories told on the sand and on the Grand Hotel, projected narratives, games, suggestions: this is what Cervia offers its tourists for the Christmas period. Paolo Buroni will animate the Grazia Deledda promenade until 6 January, thanks to unique screenings. The screen will be the beach, with its sinuosity and multiplicity of suggestions, for plays of light and images of rare emotion. After lighting up squares and monuments around the world, Buroni arrives in Cervia and his new challenge will be to excite tourists by projecting images on the beach and on the walls of the Grand Hotel. So it will be the sand dune to tell of distant adventures, monsters, battles, loves and passions. In an embrace of light and music, tourists will be able to let themselves be taken to a faraway place, which is not far away. Just take a walk on the beach in a period not really suited to the sea, in winter. And the evening mists, the wind and the darkness of the night will set the scene for the emotion. The technique used is simple and, at the same time, refined. The idea is to project beams of light on objects and to use places in a different way than usual. After lighting up the Mole Antonelliana in Turin, the “Pirellone” and the Duomo of Milan, “The wings of Venice”, the “National day parade” in Singapore, the “Ferrari show” in Maranello, the New Year’s Eve in Piazza Maggiore in Bologna , and the Milan-Inter derby, now Buroni puts himself to the test in a natural and suggestive stage, such as the winter sea of Cervia. “This project – explains the architect Giordana Arcesilai, a lighting designer from Bologna – developed from a dream. We wanted to give an emotion, create suggestions, make us feel that the sea is present, alive, ready to welcome us, but also to engulf us, through a light installation. A total immersion of those who will arrive at the beach at Christmas must ensue. In fact, Buroni creates multisensory involvement through an artistic and technological space, where the succession of scenes interacts with quadraphonic music ”. From 23 December to 6 January, at nightfall, from 5.30 pm onwards, the Lungomare will become the place of dreams. In fact, light is made of the same material as dreams. It is something intangible and for this very reason wonderful. Nature will do the rest: sand, sea, atmosphere. “Real and surreal – explains Buroni – will blend into a unicum to be experienced with all the senses. Just let yourself go to emotion and beauty. The challenge will be to indulge the atmosphere, to tell new things according to what the climate will be like “. In short, rain and fog will not be an obstacle, if anything, an extra variable that can be used to be enchanted by the emotion of the winter sea of Cervia.
