BRUSSELS - GRAND PLACE 25.11.06 Festival of the Marche Region
THE BRANDS IN BRUSSELS THREE-DIMENSIONAL EMOTIONS
This year the Marche region to celebrate its annual party has decided to focus on spectacularity and image.
The idea is to bring the charm of art, architecture and the landscape of the Marches to the Grand Place in Brussels, that is, to “spectacularize” the beauties of the region with one of the largest architectural multivisions ever built in Europe and in the world.
Therefore, this artistic installation conceived and designed for the Marche Region by the Multivision designer Paolo Buroni, one of the best known and most innovative contemporary visual experimenters, promises to be a great event who, in his large multimedia installations, blends images with music and architecture giving rise to a single language (by coincidence, among other things, Buroni is from the Marche region).
Defined as an “urban invader” by American critics for the impulse of his artistic path towards the total image that conquers streets and squares involving the three spatial dimensions. Buroni has collaborated, among others, with the sculptors Pier Paolo Calzolari and Arnaldo Pomodoro, the musicians Uri Caine and Archie Sheep and the actor Marco Paolini. With its evocative multivisions it has peacefully invaded the Venice Biennale Film Festival, the Sanremo Festival and Broadway, the Marmore Falls, the Coex Center in Seoul, the F1 Monaco Grand Prix, the San Siro Stadium in Milan. , the skyscrapers of Singapore, Las Vegas, the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul for the inaugural ceremony of the Universiade, the Pirelli skyscraper and recently the Palavela in Turin for the Olympics.
The Grand Place
Imagine the magnificent Hotel de Ville (1800sqm), the ancient palaces and even the floor of the Grand Place (over 6000sqm) completely frescoed by Raphael, Crivelli or a verdant Marchigiano landscape.
The inhabitants, passers-by, spectators will find themselves immersed in a magnificent world of images and music in slow change, an imaginary and surreal world but made with the true treasures of the Marche.
The Grand Place of Brussels lends itself in an absolutely excellent way to the realization of this magic for its unique architecture of absolute importance, but also thanks to the exceptional theatricality of its space expertly created by the ancient designers.
“In my artistic career, and also in this event, my intention is to arouse in the spectators the sensation of a multisensory immersion in the images. The image will be elaborated and spectacularized through the creation of an artistic and technological space in which a succession of scenes interacts with the music in quadraphony and enveloping the visitor tends to create a unique and unrepeatable atmosphere.
My challenge is to give the emotion of the content subject rather than tell the real and didactic reference. Create for a day a small parallel universe, a place of wonder and amazement, to be explored to experience 360 ° emotions “.

– Use of Innovative Projection Technologies (Marche, patented and world leader)
As often happens, the need creates the technology.
In this case, Paolo Buroni’s personal artistic path, based on highly personal large-scale multi-vision maxi-projections, required particular technologies that did not yet exist on the market. This has led to the birth and development of new innovative technologies. In a few years a small industry (Stark) of special projectors was born in the brands that exports these technologies all over the world.
Today Stark Projectors are installed and used all over the world whenever it is necessary to project large images at very high quality and brightness.
From the Cinema Museum to the Turin Metro, from Gardaland to Jaipur in India, from the San Siro stadium to that of Istanbul, from Dubai to Broadway or Las Vegas.
Over 10,000 square meters of images
This Architectural Multi-projection event on the Grand Place with an area of over 10,000 square meters of images represents not only a record but also a technological and technical challenge of the first magnitude.
In fact, this is one of the most extensive Multivision Multiprojections ever made.
“Given the constraints existing on the Grand Place and the respect that such a precious and delicate monument deserves, during the design phase I tried to find solutions that would not clutter up a historic square with unsightly technologies, cables, etc.
Furthermore, I found myself faced with a single possibility of positioning the projectors at a distance of over 65 meters from the buildings.
To achieve the required projection power I had to resort to a very complex technical solution and special Stark projection technologies.
Stark itself has lent itself to build special optics to be able to project from such a distance.
